Terms of Use
It is impossible to accurately describe my terms of use without describing how and why I work.
Mark Twain is reported to have said that fun is work which we are not obligated to do. Far too
many people regard fun as fun and work as a four-letter word. For me, I simply cannot locate
the line between fun and work, using the brain is always fun.
Business Work When I am tasked to assist
business or personal clients to solve their problems,
it is almost always by referral from other friends or
businesses who have used my services. I work in a
uniquely different way from specialists and when
using a specialist for a project makes good economic
sense, I am the first to recommend it to clients. I am
the best choice when your project must be seamlessly
integrated with your needs and ways of doing things.

Putting myself in your shoes-When I accept a project
on your behalf, I open my mental eyes to your big
picture make your project my own and routinely attend
to peripheral details that specialists ignore, especially
relating to fit & finish with surrounding equipment or
structures. I personally hate it when a specialist cobbles
up things surrounding a project and then tells me if I
wanted perfection, it would have cost more.

Work at Hourly Rate-I work at my hourly rate of $85
billed & due weekly portal to portal my shop in High
Ridge Missouri. I also bill mileage, expenses & parts at
my cost with no markups. Wherever possible I
encourage clients to put parts expenses on their
personal charge cards for bonus points and I routinely
use customer furnished parts or in house labor to keep
routine work cheaper.

A good example of economy is a recent installation
of an emergency generator at a client site. The area
behind his carriage house was overgrown with brush,
blocking my installation route. A handy man had
promised to clear it away for $150, but never showed
up. I told my client I would take care of it and he
Protested that I am $85 an hour. I brought my chain
saw & cutters along the next morning and within ten
minutes had all the brush in the rented dumpster. His
cost at $85 an hour was a mere $8.50 and the generator
went in ahead of schedule with the cleaned up area.

Contact Me for consultation if my way of working makes
sense to you and we can discuss matters of cost. I can
and do give fixed estimates, but my flowing work at
hourly rate is always far cheaper.
Hobby Stuff When I release
step-by-step narratives of my hobby items,
they are intended to be used
only for study, amusement and educational
purposes. Each item depicts as accurately
as I can the exact things I did, how & why
I did them that way and what my results
were. I do not suggest or recommend
building anything I have built nor claim
any intended result. Many people buy
plans or narratives, read them like a book
and put them on their shelf. This is
perfectly fine as it satisfies our human
curiosity as to how things work.

On the other hand, many of us are so
visually and tactile driven that we can’t
resist actually building a copy of what
someone else did and see if we can at
least duplicate their results or better-yet
improve upon them. It is the drive to take
the risks to create that motivates some of
us and buying access to study the work of
others is great fun (and you don’t have to
put up with them)

All of my items are strictly for your
intellectual enjoyment and come with no
warranties or implication of usability. They
are merely my best attempts to accurately
depict, illustrate and reasonably support
how I do my own work.
