Things that Float
I have designed & built some very nice R/C size boats. One of them is reminiscent of a homebuilt
New England fishing skiff (shown on homepage). It is a very cute model, easy to build and can be
fitted with a little sail. I also have built a 3 foot length 16” beam model of a four passenger speed
boat that is also fitted with a Cat Rig sail.
I plan to put both boats in my Alibre Cad system and do scale-ups. The speed boat will be scaled up
and built several sizes, including the R/C sized one. The full size will be 16 feet in length and
constructed (like the model) with the stitch & glue system and totally ultralight construction. This boat
will be called Speedy Cat Camper, reflecting the Cat Rig sailing capability and with the broad beam
will sleep two on a queen size area. It also will have an adjustable Bimini top with weatherproof side
curtains for all weather camping.
On the smaller release, the hull will be scaled to the footprint of a Jet Ski and with ultralight construction
it will be car top capable with one person and take two people on the water. I also plan to design & build
a microlight 4 cycle outboard motor for it and release the engine plans on my Things that Run page.
I apologize for keeping you all waiting on this fun stuff, but I work alone and things get done when I do them.
