Man always dreamed of flying but it took him a long time to get himself in the air. Nowadays it is as simple as writing a check for an easy to build airplane kit. Of course if you are of limited means, simply writing a check is not all that simple. Fourstar is all about how I designed and built a fine airplane and the engine that powers it in a six month spare time period for a total cost of $1,800.

Fourstar
Fourstar-I chose to name my airplane creation Fourstar because the layout is copied from the successful Kolb Firestar ultralight pusher aircraft. The only real technical departures were that I put my smooth running and cheap to build four cycle ½ Volkswagen engine in the front instead of a very powerful (but costly) Rotax two cycle engine in the rear. Instead of Firestar, I named it a Fourstar to connect it with its legacy ‘star roots and affix its economical and dependable four cycle engine
Setup sequence from trailer to flight ready is a one man job that takes only 8 minutes. Picture on right is me flying Fourstar south in Illinois along flooded Mississippi river 20 miles south of Saint Louis Missouri.
