How I build Scale Period Structures for American Flyer & Lionel electric trains
The American Flyer brand of electric trains enjoyed great favor in earlier years, mostly due to the accurate details, especially the realistic two-rail track. One problem was that the Plasticville buildings available at that time left a lot to the imagination. Later, the realistic accuracy of the HO gauge and plentiful scale plastic buildings sent the American Flyer into retirement in the annals of electric train history.
With the reintroduction of American Flyer, I needed to build a series of detailed 3-D scale lithographed buildings that capture the mood of the American Golden Age of Railroads. As I complete each unique model, I will post my illustrated construction narratives including actual printed detail sheets for your purchase. Click on the train above to download your own printable PDF copy of my illustrated Construction Tips manual, which details the building of Frame Row House and all of my other models. Press the back button on your browser after printing your copy to return to this page. This manual contains the entire construction process, common to all of my models and is used as a stand alone guide. The individual models themselves will come with check-box step by step construction sequences, avoiding distracting visual clutter to keep the building process simple.
This is a front view of what I call Dr. Cozad House. It is a very accurate model of my maternal grandparent’s home in the great plains railroad town of Unionville Missouri and will be released soon. When any model I create actually exists, I will include a short little history for your enjoyment.
